The sun sets on your new farmhouse out of town
I never saw this life for you
But we don’t really talk much anymore
I linger at the end of the line
Waiting for you to say something
But you don’t have much to say to me anymore
You came into my life like a gripping novel
And you brought me so much delight
And you brought me pain
You, you came in from the rain
With that dripping dark hair
Suddenly you were there
I used to wonder where I stood with you
You always had the upper hand
But I don’t worry about that anymore
You sang my song as if it was your own
In the voice of a twisted angel
But you don’t really sing much anymore
You came into my life like a gripping novel
And you brought me so much delight
And you brought me pain
You, you came in from the rain
With that dripping dark hair
Suddenly you were there
Everything I said last time was true
But that doesn’t change how I feel about you
Nothing will change how I feel about you
I don’t understand your point of view
But that doesn’t change how I feel about you
Nothing will change how I feel about you
How I feel about you
You still sign off every call with, “Love you.”
You are a mess
But I don’t question it anymore
Whatever it is you’re chasing, I hope you find it
You are just who you are
And I’m not disappointed anymore
You came into my life like a gripping novel
And you brought me so much delight
And you brought me pain
You, you came in from the rain
With that dripping dark hair
Suddenly you were there
Suddenly you were there
Suddenly you were there

I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
This may be Nate Kinsella's "dad record," but the array of experimental sounds and soulful songs on offer evidence a new creative peak. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 23, 2024

Some catchy tracks on here, and my guy is not afraid to rip a guitar solo. Sounds like Daniel Johnston country at times, and the album cover looks like a hip-hop record. Cidimon Arustavi
